Ko Mātou | Our Story
Nā Toi rāua ko Pōtiki te whenua,
nā Tūhoe te mana me te rangatiratanga
From Toi and Pōtiki came the land – from Tūhoe, the mana and the authority.
Te Manawa o Tūhoe Trust exists to uphold the mana of Tūhoe through the stewardship of whenua, the protection of taonga, and the strengthening of whānau.
Our story is one of guardianship, responsibility, and resilience – woven through the landscapes of Ruatoki, Waiohau, Waikaremoana, and beyond. Formed under the Te Ture Whenua Māori Act 1993, the Trust holds responsibility for the economic, cultural, and environmental wellbeing of over 6,600 owners connected to 8,700 hectares of whenua tuku iho.
We operate not just as a business, but as a living expression of Tūhoetanga – balancing tikanga with modern enterprise, and vision with accountability.
